... High rip current risk in effect through this evening...

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a high rip
current risk. It is in effect through this evening.

* Timing... a northeast to east wind at 10 to 20 mph along with an
easterly swell and wave heights in the 4 to 6 foot range will
create hazardous conditions at the New Jersey shore and at the
Delaware beaches into this evening.

* Impacts... there is a high risk for the development of dangerous
rip currents.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A high risk of rip currents implies that wind and/or wave
conditions will support the development of very strong rip
currents. These rip currents will be life threatening to anyone
who enters the surf. Rip currents are powerful channels of water
flowing quickly away from shore which occur most often at low
spots or breaks in The Sandbar and in the vicinity of structures
such as groins, jetties and piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards
and the beach patrol. Pay attention to flags and posted signs.
